Big Ben, the bell that rings in what is officially the Elizabeth Tower, is silent for some months in 2017 while the mechanisms receive their first major repair in 150 years. The tower itself has been cleaned recently, but some portions may be masked by scaffolding or shrouding. CLICK HERE for information on the British Parliament website. Carlsbad Caverns National Park: Elevators into the caverns, temporarily out of service from May 23-25, 2017, are now operating. For more information about the park, consult the National Park Service site at www.nps.gov/cave.
Montana
Glacier National Park: Boating on park waters remains closed to motorized and trailered watercraft. Hand propelled craft are being allowed in stages in the coming weeks.
Camping at Two Medicine is delayed due to snow.

Washington, District of Columbia
The Washington Monument is closed until an unspecified date in spring, 2019.
While visitors to the National Mall can still see and photograph the monument, it is closed to entry, meaning that one can’t walk the stairs or ride the elevators to the top. The National Park Service (NPS) is modernizing the elevators. Visit the NPS website for current updates at: www.nps.gov/wamo/index.htm.
